2011 was a great year for music…mostly. But I have a feeling that 2012 is going to be that much better, especially considering the new albums that are set to release this year.
While it was a big year for artists such as Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Gaga, J.Lo and other pop stars, 2012 may be the year for the oldies but goodies. From Madonna to Dr. Dre to Paul McCartney and Green Day, there are a lot of fabulous albums that we can expect to drop sometime this year.
MADONNA:
Not only will Madge be playing the Super Bowl, she has just signed a three album deal with a brand new record label and is set to release her album in March. We’ll get to hear the first single (Gimme All Your Luvin) off of her album in late January. This album will definitely be a test to see whether Madge still has “it”.
DR. DRE, DETOX:
Dre has been working on this album for what seems to be a freakin’ eternity. And now finally he’s going to release his what should now be a masterpiece, right?
NO DOUBT:
They’ve been talking about a reunion for quite some time and have even played a few shows so for No Doubt to finally reunite for some new music is going to exciting to say the least. Here’s hoping the new stuff will be as good as Rock Steady.
GREEN DAY:
Green Day hasn’t completely left the music scene. They’re last album 21st Century Breakdown was just two years ago, but we hear that 15 new tracks are coming our way.
BLACK SABBATH:
Black Sabbath has reunited, saggy balls and slightly creaky vocals and all, but they are together nonetheless. Their album “Never Say Die” is their first full length album since 1978.
50 CENT, BEFORE I SELF-DESTRUCT (MARCH):
Despite his January 2012 Twitter rant, “I have lost all the faith in the team I’m on. I having nothing left to say I will not be promoting my music”, I think Fiddy is bluffing. His upcoming album (set to release in March) is more than likely off the freakin’ hook. Time will tell.
Other notable mentions: VV Brown (Lollipops & Politics), John Mayer (Born and Raised)
