The is it or isn’t prequel to Alien. Director Ridley Scott’s lips are sealed as he refuses to give anyone a hint on the plot. Is it too much to ask for Charlize Theron to be running around in her underwear?

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (July 6)

I’m more interested in seeing why they have decided to reboot a franchise that is only 10 years old, than I am to see the actual movie. I’m not completely sold on Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, but I am curious to see how it all plays out.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (July 20)

The mother of all summer blockbusters. This is the final chapter in Christopher Nolan’s brilliant trilogy. I want to see if Tom Hardy’s Bane can even come close to Heath Ledger’s Joker.

THE BOURNE LEGACY (August 3)

Initially I had no interest in a 4th Bourne movie, especially without Matt Damon. How do you make a Bourne flick without Jason Bourne in it? After the teaser trailer, I’m hooked already. Jeremy Renner should be fantastic in this.

5 WAYS TO IMPROVE THE OSCARS:
1) As great as Billy Crystal was, he can’t host forever. Nine times might be just enough for him at the age of 64. The Academy needs to find a longterm replacement and not second guess their choice or look back. Someone they can plug in to host for the next 5+ years. I suggest Stephen Colbert. He has the wit and character for Hollywood’s biggest night.

2) Add 2 new categories. Best Performance By An Animal. Best Stunt. This year would have had a great race between the horse from War Horse and Uggie the dog from The Artist. Tom Cruise’s crazy stunt climbing the world’s tallest building would have won Best Stunt.

3) Combine Sound Editing and Sound Mixing. Until someone can tell me in detail why sound mixing is so special, we can make the show move faster by doing this sound combo.

4) Combine Original Screenplay with Adapted Screenplay. I have a lot of respect for writers, but I hate separating the two writing awards. Make it just Best Screenplay and have 6 nominations instead of 5.

5) Either have 5 Best Picture nominees or 10. No in-betweens. Some years there are barely 5 films worthy of nominations. Every now and then there are around 10 films who look like Best Picture. I think 5 should be the number because it’s more prestigious.
