First Official Trailer Released For ‘The Forever Purge’

One of the most successful modern horror film franchises is allegedly coming to an end with its next installment. The new horror film, titled The Forever Purge, will push the series into all-new territory which far outspans the traditional rules of the franchise. Obviously there is plenty of reason to be excited here, and now Blumhouse has delivered the first official trailer for The Forever Purge.

As you can in the trailer for The Forever Purge down below, this new sequel looks like an both an interesting expansion and a fitting conclusion to the fan-favorite horror series. And it seems as though the social commentary that the franchise is known for will once again take the foreground. Indeed, this looks like an excellent successor to the previous film in the franchise, The First Purge, which was released in 2018 to box office success.

In the new film…

“Adela (Ana de la Reguera, Cowboys & Aliens) and her husband Juan (Tenoch Huerta, Days of Grace) live in Texas, where Juan is working as a ranch hand for the wealthy Tucker family. Juan impresses the Tucker patriarch, Caleb (Will Patton, Halloween), but  that fuels the jealous anger of Caleb’s son, Dylan (Josh Lucas, Ford v Ferrari).

On the morning after The Purge, a masked gang of killers attacks the Tucker family—including Dylan’s wife (Cassidy Freeman, HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones), and his sister (Leven Rambin, The Hunger Games), forcing both families to band together and fight back as the country spirals into chaos and the United States begins to disintegrate around them.”

Everardo Gout directed the film from a screenplay by franchise creator James DeMonaco. Producers for the film include Jason Blum of Blumhouse, Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller of Platinum Dunes, and the aforementioned James DeMonaco and Sébastien K. Lemercier of Man in a Tree. The film is executive produced by Marcei A. Brown, Everardo Gout and Jeanette Volturno.

Audiences will be able to see The Forever Purge in theaters on July 2, 2021.
