James Wan Welcomes Amber Heard To ‘Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom’

While many fans have been using a petition to get Amber Heard removed from the upcoming Aquaman sequel, now titled Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, it seems that’s not going to happen. In fact, director James Wan has even welcomed Amber Heard in joining the cast for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. This was revealed by Amber Heard who shared a message she received from the production team of the film. What’s more, the message came with flowers and a note that read:

“Amber – Welcome back to Atlantis. Love James & Rob.”

It previously appeared to be confirmed by Amber Heard that she’d be returning for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom after she started sharing training posts. While that obviously had the fans petitioning against Amber Heard quite upset, it seems like they’ll be even more annoyed to see the positive reception from James Wan and the film’s production team that she’ll be joining the cast.

As of this writing, the petition to have Amber Heard removed from the production of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom actually reached nearly 2 million signatures. While there are a lot of names on that petition, however, it seems like Warner Bros didn’t care to acknowledge their request to have Amber Heard removed. So it looks like we’ll be seeing Amber Heard back as Mera for the upcoming Aquaman sequel. And with the actress already in quarantine to prepare for the sequel’s production, it’s expected that filming will begin next month in July.

As such, stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates on the upcoming Aquaman sequel and Amber Heard’s involvement as we have them. There will definitely be plenty of developments to look out for if the ongoing controversies surrounding Amber Heard and Johnny Depp keep up as they have been.

Audiences can currently expect Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to be released late next year on December 16, 2022.
